Hair problems.

I went and got my hair done Saturday morning.
Needless to say, I'm not very impressed with it. I'm lightening up, and I'm quite lucky that my hair doesn't usually take too many visits to the hairdresser to be get back to a nice shade of blonde. I don't usually go through the yucky orange-y colour people compain about.

Since going a dark shade of brown I've been to the HD once to start the process. They did a half a head of blonde foils. This was about 10 weeks ago.
I went to a different HD this time around (mainly as it was more convenient, and cheaper - and I'm tight with my pennies) and we decided that to speed up the process I'd get a full head of foils.
She only left the foils on for MAX 10-15 minutes!!
Now I'm no hairdresser, but I've been getting my hair done for going on 10 years, and most of that time I've been blonde... And in my experience, they usually leave the bleach on for about 25/30 minutes!
I could tell when she was drying it that my roots weren't blonde... :(
They're a funny pale orangey colour that blends in with my scalp!
This is all a disaster, I tell you!
I really hate paying for something and not being happy!

I've tried to take a half-decent photo..

Excuse the red marks that have suddenly appeared on my head. You can see the old blonde from my HD 10 weeks ago... And then you can see the obviously fugly orange where she has put bleach on and washed it out far too quickly! You can also see that my natural colour is not very dark!

So after a nice big rant on Twitter and some helpful hints from Twitter friends, I'll be calling the HD tomorrow. Hopefully she is understanding. I'm always concerned with calling HD's and going back for them to fix it.

The Boyfriend's helpful hint - "If you got a spray job on your car that you weren't happy with, you would call them back and get them to fix it, wouldn't you?"

Yes, but I don't have to sit there for 2 hours while they respray the car! You can't really drop your hair off and pick it up when it's done, now can you?!

Ahh the simple minds of males.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend!

10 weeks!

So I woke up this morning - read "JOLTED awake" - with the realisation that Christmas is a mere 10 weeks and a few days away.
10 weeks!
Sorry to have to break it to you all, it's just around the corner!

And since I am constantly bouncing from 100%-on / halfheartedly-on the fitness bandwagon, I've decided to set myself a goal. 10 weeks to feel happy with myself in all of summer clothes' teeny tiny glory. Now for me it's not about a number, it's about feeling good, tightening up my belly bits, building some more muscle, lifting and tightening some droopies :)...
getting rid of the ever looming cellulite the boyfriend swears he can't see. It's there, I tell you!

I'm actually loving lifting weights at the gym (never thought that would be my thing) and it's amazing how strong my lower body is compared to my upper body. So I must focus on these arms baby.

Dream body!

I've never set myself a goal before in regards to my fitness, so fingers crossed this has the outcome I'm hoping for. With the weather getting warmer and daylight savings here, I already feel like I have heaps more energy :)

On another note, it looks like we are making a move up north to the Sunshine Coast!
So scary and exciting!

The Boyfriend has gotten a job transfer which will be FIFO from somewhere in QLD. Our first thought was Townsville, but as my family is all in NSW, SA and VIC, Northern QLD is pretty far. His family is located around Brisbane... So an hour away is too far for anyone to do the random drop-in! Haha :)

Anyway wish us luck for this new and exciting time, fingers crossed if all goes to plan I'll be kicking back by the beach in 4 short weeks :-D

Have a lovely weekend!!

iPad!

So I bit the bullet and finally got my new iPad! And I have to say, I fricken love it! Blog posting on it right now :)
(EDIT: blog posting on iPad takes a bit of getting used to with the particular app I'm using, and inserting links etc, but after the inital feeling around, I'm finding it quite simple and super convenient!)

I also joined Pinterest! Big day for Jess! Haha

SWANNIES!

We WON!!!

I have been singing the Sydney Swans anthem since I was about 7 as my whole bloody family (extended included! - whom I all love very much!) goes for this team. My pop drove a red mini.
A red mini that had a white roof. That he painted. My dad has a gazillion signed posters, hats,
jerseys you name it, my grandmother also has a lot of memorabilia, my great aunt has a
knitted swans octopus on the back head rest of her car... the list goes on!

Anyway my parents had this bear who you could press his paw and he would sing... the anthem!

Cheer cheer the red and the white,
Honour the name by day and by night!
Lift that noble banner high,
Shake down the thunder from the sky

Whether the odds be great or small,
Swans will go in and win overall
While her loyal sons are marching
Onwards to victoryyyyyyyyyy!

So basically I'm buzzing right now, especially as my pop passed away a few years ago and I know this would make him super duper happy :)

Thrifty is the new black!

I decided a while ago that paying ridonculous amounts for skin and hair care that is full of nasties and tested on animals is bullocks, so I made it my mission to try some more natural methods of treating my hair, moisturising etc.

My 2 favourites at the moment are Rosehip Oil and Coconut Oil.

Rosehip Oil -  I've used this for some time now as a face moisturiser after I shower at night, and in the time I've been using it I've noticed a significant improvement in my skin tone and that my face feels extra soft :) winner!

I use Sukin Certified Organic Rosehip Oil. I love it because all of their products are Australian made and are free from animal testing. Also, it's worked wonders. I'll never age now! *crossing fingers*

Coconut Oil - I've been using it as a deep conditioning treatment for my damaged locks, a smoothing serum after I've dried my hair, a body moisturiser, to make a facial scrub...! . Loving IT. I currently have a treatment in at the moment and besides the fact that it works wonders, the smell is gorgeous!

Banaban Virgin Coconut Oil  is the brand I've been using and I picked it up at my local health food store. I can't wait to experiment more with it, and the best thing is that with all the uses it has, it's soooo cheap! They should really hire me to door knock about it, I love it that much!

I would love to know if anyone else has miracle little wonders that have more than one use and are easy on the wallet? Remember, it's money to save up for shoes!

Have a wonderful long weekend!

Face lift

The blog is getting a little face lift, I hope you likey!

I've decided to go extremely basic as this seems to be the common theme of all the blog designs I love! I need to get my header sorted to something spunky and then I think I'll be done playing for a while. I haven't broken anything yet so this is a good sign!

I'm a bit of a n00b when it comes to all this business. Not a smart cookie at all.

I hope you're all enjoying X-Factor. I have to say I L.O.V.E  Mel B. She's hilarious, and pretty much the reason I watch the show! I wish they would show more of the trainwreck singers though as it's good entertainment.

Vegemite on toast calls, don't work too hard today!

Foody Instagram pics!

I've since decided to stop apologising about the lack of blog posts and just make you a promise that I will try to do better! Haha. I think Blogger's Block is still going around.

Quiona, roasted capsicum, portabello mushies, pine nuts and rocket salad!
As asked by xoCATox, here is another quinoa recipe!

I just sliced up my mushies and cooked them for a few minutes so they we nice and soft, and then turned the heat up to high so they go crispy. Then bang in your pinenuts, chilli and roasted capsicum. When that is all cooked and hot, toss in your (warmed up in microwave) quinoa and rocket, mix it around and Bob's your uncle. Less than 10 minutes.
It was so delicious, and oh so healthy! Don't forget the chilli :)

The best thing I have found is having cooked quinoa and brown rice in the fridge, it makes it so easy to whip up quick healthy meals!

Roasted veggies!

Sweet potato with garlic, capsicum with red wine vinegar, zucchini with oregano and eggplant with homemade chilli salt to be roasted! Get in my belleh.

Slow braised mushies, my Sunday winter ritual.
I do love a good braise. What is better on a cold Sunday arvo?

Happy Sunday lunch!

We had this wonderful dish for lunch yesterday, after the horribleness that was the weather on Saturday, the sun was a-shinin' for us... so it was BBQ time!
We had a rocket and basil salad with avocado and mixed tomatoes, and a capsicum that was roasted on the weber.
The salmon was marinated in balsamic vinegar, mustard, chilli, garlic and honey.
Try it.
I dare you.
You won't look back.
And then a parsley, garlic, EVOO and chilli grilled portobello mushroom and life was complete.
With a glass of white of course. I think drinking red with fish is criminal.

I love food blogs with real pictures of what you've made yourself. Luckily for me, Instagram makes everything look even more pretty! Haha

I hope you guys all had a wonderful weekend!
